Manny Pacquiao

So much has been said about this Pacman vs Hatton fight. Right from the start, this was evident when they first had issue on percentage sharing... It even reached the point where it has become battle of the coaches... With Floyd Mayweather Sr. flamboyant attitude even to the extent of almost grabbing the limelight from his boxer.

During the press conferences he has the audacity to come up with a poem about Manny & how the fight goes... to which Manny accepted with a laugh and sportsmanlike attitude. All throughout the 24/7 broadcast, Manny always attribute everything to God and he never insulted his foe.

My take on this matter is, Manny "Pacman" Pacquaio silenced the 25,000 Brits who are known to really rally behind their hero. Manny Pacquaio not only proved that he is the Best ever fighter of all time but he also showed that in the boxing ring nobody can dominate this Filipino.

In few occasions, I was with Manny Pacquiao in the plane ( Manila - General Santos flight )... He is very clam, subdue and doesn't make so much fuss. When he entered the plane, he seats on the 1st row business class and really sat quietly in his corner. I have been with other so-called celebrities that when they are in their comfortable zones you can see "characters" far from what they portray on TV or the image they project. But Manny Pacquiao is still that humble, quiet & with easy disposition.

Filipinos united even for one single day... nobody can do that expect the PACMAN himself. Pacquiao vs Hatton - its loud and clear --- PACMAN is the best.

Open the window after you enter your car

According to research done by University of California, the car dashboard, seats, air freshener will emit Benzene, a cancer-causing toxin(carcinogen) . In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. It may also cause miscarriage. Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2,000-4,000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level. The people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excessive amount of toxins.

Itis recommended that you open the windows and doors to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is difficult for your body to expel.

My take on Ted Failon's Story

I am not here to judge Ted Failon (born Mario Teodoro Failon Etong). As the news says, Ted Failon's wife had passed away. What made in more controversial is that she passed away after the police arrested her family & relatives in the hospital. Filipinos are known to like soap opera and drama that this incident made a big fuss about the time interval when it happened.

I also find it very intriguing when these days several text messages have been going around asking for support for Ted Failon. The text messages are actually saying he is NOT guilty. I was kinda hoping that the text messages are supposed to be asking for prayers for the soul of his wife... The text message will even go as far as " if police can treat well-known personality like Ted how much more if the involved person is poor"... I think this is a very good plot, a sure way of eliciting nods from the general public who are known to have a penchant for giving their hearts to the underdogs.

Let me just ask this: What did the media do if the involved person is not one of their colleagues? In situation like this? Do they respect privacy? Do they come to the rescue? Think... and think very well.

Again, let's give Ted Failon the fair chance to prove himself. Let the media report without being biased, let Police do their job, let Ted's family mourn peacefully. We, the public doesn't know what truly happened, we are not PRIVY to the REAL story. Let us simply PRAY for the soul of Trina Etong. Let us NOT make this as a new plot for a telenovela... As I've said i am not here to crucify Ted Failon but merely analyzing how some people act on cases like this.

Well, just my honest opinion.

Poker: Know the LINGO

Poker ( as defined by wikipedia )is a family of card games that share betting rules and usually (but not always) hand rankings. Poker games differ in how the cards are dealt, how hands may be formed, whether the high or low hand wins the pot in a showdown (in some games, the pot is split between the high and low hands), limits on bets and how many rounds of betting are allowed. In most modern poker games, the first round of betting begins with some form of forced bet. The action then proceeds to the left. Each player in turn must either match the maximum previous bet or fold, losing all further interest in the hand. A player who matches a bet may also raise, increasing the bet. The betting round ends when all players have either matched the last bet or folded. If all but one player fold on any round, the remaining player collects the pot without showing his hand. If more than one player remains in contention after the final betting round, the hands are shown and the winning hand takes the pot.

To know the game, it is important to understand its LINGO. Poker is not just an ordinary card game but it involves quick thinking, mastery & art of disguising. To avoid getting trap in the game, I feel that one should learn the following:

Bluff
Aggressive Play
Conservative Play
Action
Tell

Bluff

"Bluffing" - or pretending to have better cards than you actually do - is a fundamental strategy of the game. A player who bluffs usually bets higher than his/her cards warrant. The desire of the bluffer is to scare the other players out of the hand by making them think he/she is holding phenomenal cards.

Aggressive play

An "aggressive" player is one who bets high early and forces others to abandon their comfort zone. He or she frequently bets the maximum limit and stays "in" until the end. Depending on your skill level, aggressive play can be a quick way to cough up a lot of cash.

Conservative play

A "conservative" player usually bets the minimum and is quick to fold if the cards are not in his or her favor. Conservative play can be a good way to keep more money in your pocket, but many times will not win you big pots. Why? Because if people know that you're a conservative player, they'll bail any time that you bet more than the minimum. A conservative player is often susceptible to the trickery of the bluffer.

Action

To those in the dating game, this word refers to gettin' busy. To poker players, it denotes the amount of betting going on at a given table. In a casino, you may hear a professional player say, "I'm leaving, there's not enough action at this table." That means that not enough money is being risked.

Tell

A "tell" is a mannerism that you inadvertently repeat that lets the other players know how good your hand is. No one EVER wants other people to know their tell, but everyone has one. When you lie, you inadvertently give little clues. A player may wipe his brow when he has a good hand, trying to contain excitement. Another player may grit her teeth when she has a low hand, a nervous reaction to the bluff she's about to make. Whatever it is, you should always try to figure out what the other players' tells are, and you should always try to hide yours. Try to play as stoically as possible, eliminating the possibility that someone will discover your tell. Practice that poker face.

Alone on Valentine's? Don't Fret...

When the month of February comes some single dread the thought of being the butt of jokes. Everyone in the house, in the office or your attached friends would give you that knowing look. Some downright obvious and give you a pat on your should as if telling you how "unfortunate" it must be for you...

Don't be sad... you are not alone! And being alone doesn't mean you are miserable. I once read in a magazine that a new term was created by author and entrepreneur Sasha Cagen = " QUIKRYALONE". It refers to a person with the capacity to enjoy single life ( but is not opposed in a relationship ) and prefers to be alone rather than date just for the sake of being part of a couple.

Whether you are quirkyalone or just someone who needs some moment, It is best to focus on what you can do for a change. To name a few:

1. Enrol in a Class - be it taekwando or culinary but it must be something you feel like getting into. You dont need approval of anyone, just do it.

2. Join Community Service - the best way to use your valuable time withouthaving to worry that someone might want you to be at their side at a given time.

3. Do what you always wanted to do - If you always dreamt of travelling solo or wanted to discover some eerie place...be daring! Or if you just want to go out of time & be spontaneous... go for it.
